I have an existing DOORS DB on the server and have created a second DOORS DB service on the same server. I wish to use the the data in the existing DOORS DB as a starting point for my new DOORS DB, including all users/groups/directory structure/projects/modules etc. |
Re: How to duplicate DOORS DB on the same server -identify a folder to house the new database, and create that folder. Lets call it c:\Doors-Data\data2. -Use the Managing DOORS manual to specify a 2nd instance of the service, giving it a new port (and return port) and the folder, lets say port 36688 and of course c:\Doors-Data\data2. Note that new service will generally have name suffixed with "0001". -Start the new service. Fix things until it starts. -Create a new DOORS client shortcut with command line to redirect to the new service, e.g. -d 36688@MyServer -Run the client, which says its starting a new database and provide the administrator password. This proves your database is working correctly. Exit the DOORS. -Stop the new service. -Go to the folder c:\Doors-Data\data2 and permanantly delete ALL the files therein, thus erasing the database you just created when you logged in. -Turn off the production service. -Copy the contents of the production folder into the new location c:\Doors-Data\data2. This will take a while. -Start both services -Use the new shortcut to log into the duplicated database. Good idea to edit the properties of the database folder and change the name of the database, including some buzz word like "36688" or "spawned" or "copy" or whatever. -Start DOORS on the production database, perhaps change its name also -Its likely you want a project to exist only in ONE database; so figure that out and purge the corresponding projecs from the other database Seems to me that there is some database file to edit such that the new database gets a different URL, but I don't know about that. Seems to me I probably missed a step and someone will insert that.
